The awards listed here represent only a selection of the honors bestowed by the State of Hesse and the Federal President. A complete overview of all orders and decorations can be found on the websites of the Hessian State Chancellery and the Federal President.
The authority responsible for nominating candidates for the various awards varies. Depending on the order or decoration, nominations are submitted to the Fulda District Office or the Hessian State Chancellery. The appropriate authority is specified for each award.

Letter of Commendation from the State of Hesse
The Letter of Honor from the State of Hesse is an award presented by the Minister President of Hesse in recognition of exceptional volunteer work in the areas of democratic, social, or cultural development of society.
To apply for the Letter of Honor from the State of Hesse, you can use the application form provided on this page (see the Downloads section). Nominations for this award are submitted to the District Administrator of the Fulda District.
