Over the past few weeks and months, more than one million participants from all over Germany have competed in the "Jugend musiziert" competition across more than 30 different categories.
The three-stage competition—which begins at the regional level, moves on to state-level competitions, and culminates in the national competition—serves as a catalyst: It boosts the popularity of music education programs, sparks curiosity and interest, and motivates children and young people to engage with music, make music together, and achieve exceptional artistic accomplishments through hard work.
The young musicians from the Fulda district achieved the following rankings:
In the violin category, Clara Schlitzer won second prize in Age Group III with 22 points. She studies in Martina Wolf’s class at the Fulda City Music School.
Two students from the Fulda City Music School also competed in the cello category: Mahina Chalcou-Freier won second prize in Age Group IV with 22 points. She is taught in Maksim Fedcenko-Pietsch’s class. Eileen Tolsdorf won first prize in age group V with 23 points. She is taught by Johannes Eisenbacher.
In the Percussion category, Konrad Kaffanke won first prize in Age Group V with 25 points, including a nomination for the national finals of the competition. He studies at the Fulda City Music School in Klaus Schenk’s class. David Schäfer also won first prize—including a nomination—with 24 points, likewise in the Percussion category in Age Group III.
In the Duo category (piano and woodwind instrument), Jakob Sturmius Schmitt on the recorder and Willi Schüßler on the piano secured first prize with 24 points, including a nomination to compete in the national competition. Both students are enrolled at the KreisMusikSchule: Jakob Sturmius Schmitt in Brigitte Groß-Feldmann’s class and Willi Schüßler in Reinhold Feldmann’s class.
All nominees have now been invited to the national finals in Wuppertal. As a result, four musicians from the district will participate in the finals in June.
