Renew a Driver's License for Passenger Transportation
Service description
A passenger transport driver's license (FzF) is valid for a period of no more than 5 years. After that, you may have the FzF renewed for up to 5 years at a time, subject to certain conditions.
This applies to every vehicle used for commercial trips with a
- Taxi
- Rental Cars
- Passenger cars in scheduled or on-demand service
- Ambulance
A passenger transport license that has not been renewed expires when the validity period ends. You must then reapply for the passenger transport license.
Procedure
Submit the application to the driver's license office with jurisdiction over you.
Prerequisites
- mental and physical fitness
- good eyesight
- You are at least 21 years old
- no criminal record
- After turning 60: demonstrated resilience, orientation skills, concentration, attention span, and reaction time
What documents are required?
- A driver's license issued by the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) that is required to operate the vehicle in question
- If you have not held an EU or EEA Class B driver’s license (passenger car) or an equivalent driver’s license from another country (listed in Appendix 11 of the FeV) for at least 2 years, proof that you have held such a driver’s license for a total of 2 years within the last 5 years.

- Certificate of Medical Examination for Physical and Mental Fitness
- Eye Exam Certificate
