Seek health counseling for people engaged in prostitution
Service description
The “Act on the Regulation of the Prostitution Industry and the Protection of Persons Engaged in Prostitution” (Prostitute Protection Act—ProstSchG) took effect nationwide on July 1, 2017.
It provides that public health departments offer confidential health counseling. This includes information on sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, contraception, and alcohol and drug use, and provides an opportunity to discuss any difficult situation one may be facing.
The consultation is a prerequisite for registering your business with the municipality where you primarily conduct your business.

All individuals engaged in prostitution are required to attend a health consultation at the public health department.

Sex workers who were already practicing their profession before July 1, 2017, must have completed the health counseling by December 31, 2017.

How often should you seek advice?
For individuals over the age of 21:
Every twelve months after the initial registration.
Transitional Provision:
If you register for the first time by December 31, 2017, the checkup is due two years after the initial health consultation; thereafter, every twelve months.
For individuals between the ages of 18 and 21:Every six months after the initial registration.
The certificate confirming that the consultation took place may also be issued under the alias assigned when the business was registered.
Remarks
Prostitutes must carry the certificate of health counseling with them while working.
