Request written information about the absence of entries in the custody register
Service description
If you, as the mother, are not married to the child’s father and no entries have been made in the custody registry, you can request a certificate of sole custody (negative certificate) from the relevant youth welfare office.
That office maintains a custody registry for children of unmarried parents. Entries are made in this custody registry when:- Declarations of guardianship are submitted.
- Custody has been granted jointly, in whole or in part, pursuant to a final court decision.
- Custody has been wholly or partially revoked from the mother or transferred to the father pursuant to a final court decision.
If no entry has been made in the custody registry, you will be issued a written certificate confirming your sole custody.
If entries have been made in the custody registry based on court decisions regarding the allocation of parental custody, you will receive written confirmation that such entries exist in the custody registry.Procedure
You can apply for a certificate of sole custody (negative certificate) at your local youth welfare office.
- Submit a request for written information.
- If no entries have been made in the custody registry, you will be sent a written certificate.
