Application for Issuance / Renewal of a 3-Year Hunting License
Service description
To hunt in Germany, you must have a German hunting license issued in your name.
If you already hold a German hunting license that has expired, you may apply for a renewal. The hunting authority in your place of residence is responsible for this.
The 3-year hunting license is valid for three consecutive hunting years. The hunting year begins on April 1 and ends on March 31.
Procedure
To apply for a 3-year hunting license, submit the completed application form (see "Applications/Forms" below). Please check to see what other documents you may need to provide.
Provided that all requirements are met, you will be issued a 3-year hunting license. You will receive this along with the fee notice from the hunting authority.

What documents are required?

: The photograph must be a recent one. It must be at least 45 millimeters by 35 millimeters in portrait orientation, with no border. The photograph must show the face with a minimum width of 20 millimeters and clearly identify the applicant. The background must be lighter than the face. - Copy of your ID card

hunting liability insurance Note: (at least 500,000 euros for bodily injury and 50,000 euros for property damage); the validity period of the certificate must fully cover the desired validity period of the hunting license. The premium invoice is not sufficient. - Original certificate of passing the hunting exam (only for first-time issuance)

What fees apply?
Fees are charged by the hunting authority for applications for a 3-year hunting license.
Note on Discounts: For members of state, municipal, and private forestry services who have completed the required training and are working in this profession; for individuals currently enrolled in the designated training program; for qualified individuals (hunting consultants and experts), as well as for certified game wardens, the fee is reduced by 50 percent.
