Health Certificate for Pets and Farm Animals

You can use this online service to submit a request for a health certificate for your pet(s). This service covers the intra-Community movement as well as the export (shipment to a non-EU country) of companion animals (dogs, cats, ferrets) and livestock (cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, and other livestock species).

When transporting animals, an official health certificate is generally required; this is issued by the competent veterinary authority for both companion animals and farm animals. If you wish to transport one or more pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) commercially within the EU, please follow the guidelines in the “Livestock” section.

If you wish to travel with your pet (dog, cat, ferret) on a private trip within the EU, you will need what is known as an EU pet passport. This will be issued to you by an authorized veterinarian at your veterinary clinic.

The EU Pet Passport must list the animal’s owner, and the animal must be identified by a microchip, as verifiably documented in the pet passport. Furthermore, proof of a valid rabies vaccination must be provided via the microchip through the pet passport. It is not necessary to contact the veterinary office for this process.
