The Fulda district currently operates 63 public schools within its jurisdiction. These include 41 elementary schools, two elementary and secondary schools, two elementary, secondary, and intermediate schools, one intermediate school, three secondary and intermediate schools, three high schools, three comprehensive schools, six special education schools, and two vocational schools.

The school authority is primarily responsible for school organization, school infrastructure, school maintenance, and student transportation.

The State of Hesse is responsible for determining the structure of the school system, the curriculum, the types of schools, and personnel authority over teachers. The State School Authority is responsible for these matters.
