Project by the City of Gersfeld
: Upgrading the Schopfwiesen Wastewater Treatment Plant
Here: Notice pursuant to Section 7 in conjunction with Section 5(2) of the UPVG
The Gersfeld City Council intends to renovate the Gersfeld wastewater treatment plant (5,650 population equivalent) to comply with technical standards and ensure reliable wastewater treatment. The project will involve upgrading the existing treatment plant and constructing a new biological treatment stage. The new facility is to be built on the adjacent property, in the Gersfeld cadastral district, parcel 24, lot 103.
Pursuant to Section 13.1.3 of Annex 1 to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (UVPG), a preliminary site-specific assessment pursuant to Section 7(2) of the UVPG was required to determine whether the project affects specific local conditions as defined in Section 2.3 of Annex 3 to the UVPG and, if applicable, taking into account the criteria set forth in Annex 3, it could have significant adverse environmental effects affecting the sensitivity or conservation objectives of the area, which would need to be considered in the authorization decision.
The measure was coordinated with the lower-level nature conservation authority.
A general preliminary review of the specific case revealed that there is no requirement to conduct an environmental impact assessment for the project.
This finding cannot be challenged on its own.
