European Firearms Pass
Service description
If you are authorized to possess firearms or ammunition in categories A 1.2 through C and wish to transport them to Member States of the European Union or to countries that are parties to the Schengen Agreement, you will need a European Firearms Pass.
"Carrying" means that you temporarily have the firearm or ammunition with you while traveling across the border for use, without relinquishing ownership.
You can have multiple firearms (up to ten) listed on the European Firearms Pass. Whether you need additional documents or permits beyond the European Firearms Pass depends on the firearms laws of the country to which you intend to take the firearms or ammunition.
Therefore, in addition to the European Firearms Pass, you will need the following for your trip:
- Your German firearm ownership cards, on which your firearms are registered,
- proof of the reason for your trip,
- Your ID card or passport,
- Documents required under the regulations of the country being visited.
Procedure

After your application documents have been reviewed for completeness, the European Firearms Pass will be the firearms authority and mailed to you along with the fee notice.

What documents are required?

- A copy of your ID card or passport,
- A recent photograph measuring at least 45 millimeters by 35 millimeters in portrait orientation without a border; the face must measure at least 20 millimeters; the background must be lighter than the face,
- If represented by someone else: written power of attorney.
