Housing Allowance Change
Service description
You have a duty to notify the authorities,
- if the rent/monthly payment (excluding heating costs) decreases by more than 15 percent,
- if the income of household members increases by more than 15 percent,
- if the number of household members decreases,
- if the entire household moves,
- if one or more household members apply for or receive transfer payments (citizen's income, basic income support),
- Upon the death of a single-person household member (reported by the heirs or guardians).
These changes may result in a reduction in housing assistance or, in some cases, its complete elimination.
Procedure
Please notify your local housing allowance agency immediately of any changes that could lead to a reduction or termination of your housing allowance. The housing allowance agency will then review whether and how the changes affect your entitlement to housing allowance and inform you of the outcome. Any housing allowance overpaid will be reclaimed.
Prerequisites
In the following cases, the approved housing allowance is reduced or discontinued:
- An increase in total income of more than 15%,
- A reduction of more than 15% in the rent or charges to be taken into account,
- Decrease in the number of household members.
Entitlement to housing assistance also ceases in the following cases:
- Moving the entire household,
- Death of a single household member,
- Receipt of transfer payments (e.g., citizen's income, basic income support for the elderly and for those with reduced earning capacity),
- misuse of housing assistance.
What documents are required?
- Proof of income (pay stubs, pension statement)
- Bank statements showing the amount of the current rent
- Documents regarding the costs associated with the home you own, if you are the owner
- Proof of receipt of transfer payments, if you receive any (Citizen's Income, Basic Income Support for the Elderly, and Basic Income Support for Persons with Reduced Earning Capacity)

If your financial situation or living circumstances have improved or changed, your housing allowance may be reduced. You are therefore required to notify the housing allowance authority immediately of any changes that could lead to a reduction in your housing allowance.
