Trichinella Sampling by Hunters

In the Fulda district, samples are collected using the digital game origin tag. A smartphone and the “diwima Wildmarke” app are required to record the Trichinella sample. The existing game origin tags are being replaced with tags featuring a QR code. By scanning the QR code, the hunter’s information and the trichina sample are recorded and transmitted to the authorities. The sample can then be deposited in a designated mailbox at the Health Department, Otfrid-von-Weißenburg-Str. 3, 36043 Fulda, even outside of business hours. The drop box is located at the side/staff entrance, which is accessible via the parking lot for service vehicles. Once the examination is complete, the game origin certificate is automatically emailed to the hunter. Paper game origin certificates are no longer required.

For those who do not have a smartphone or who are unable to participate in the new process for other reasons, the traditional process will continue to be available. In this case, only in-person drop-off during business hours is permitted.

Become a Designated Hunter

Hunters trained by the Veterinary Office receive an authorization and are therefore permitted to collect a Trichinella sample from wild boars and submit it to the office for testing. Training sessions are also available online or at other veterinary offices. Training sessions in the Fulda district are held when there is sufficient demand. Interested hunters can pre-register and will then receive a specific invitation in advance.
