Under certain circumstances, the Fulda District may provide advice to residents regarding mold or pest infestations in their apartments or homes. In addition, the district can help connect residents with experts or provide recommendations from the Federal Environment Agency.
Mold Contamination Indoors
Mold is found everywhere and can also grow on food and in buildings. It requires only a small amount of nutrients and a minimum level of moisture to grow. Causes can include damage to the building or improper ventilation. Mold can be dangerous to humans. Possible consequences include allergies, fungal infections, respiratory diseases, irritation of the mucous membranes, and gastrointestinal disorders. In the event of mold infestation, experts must therefore identify and address the causes of persistent indoor moisture and structural damage. Pest infestation
Pests are animals that can transmit pathogens and thus pose a threat to human health or cause damage to property. This damage can occur, for example, to food, furnishings, or buildings, or it can result in direct or indirect harm to human health. Pest control measures should always be carried out by specialized companies. Certified pest control companies can be found through the German Pest Control Association.
