The HeLawi app allows users to respond immediately and easily to land monitoring results and to document the indicator species for Eco-Regulation 5. Use of the app is not yet mandatory.

Online applications are submitted via the Agrarportal Hessen website. The login system uses the HIT/ZID. Please note that you must log in using 06000+PI number.

Agricultural environmental programs are one-year, voluntary initiatives that individual farmers can apply for on a case-by-case basis. It is possible to apply for multiple agricultural environmental programs at the same time.

All eco-regulations can generally be combined, provided that doing so is technically feasible.

ÖR 1.a) Non-productive areas on arable land (fallow land)
ÖR 1.b) Establishment of flower strips or flower areas on arable land that the farmer sets aside in accordance with ÖR 1.a) (only in combination with ÖR 1.a)

The income support program is intended to provide additional assistance to small and medium-sized farms. Farms receive an additional payment for the first 60 hectares, which is tiered as follows:

1–40 ha: Flat rate of 69
euros/ha; 40–60 ha: Flat rate of 41 euros/ha

When applied for, the redistributive income support is granted and paid out in addition to the basic income support.

Additional financial assistance will be provided to young farmers. This income support is intended to help young people take over a farm or start a new one.

There are a few requirements for receiving this payment

• Initial application must be submitted no later than 5 years after the business was established
• Must be 40 years of age or younger at the time of application
• Funding for a maximum of 5 years
• Up to 120 hectares are eligible for funding

In addition, applicants must, for example,

• have completed agricultural training, or
• a degree in agriculture or
• a recognized continuing education program (at least 300 hours) or
• Provide proof of 2 years of work experience on a farm

Transitional rules apply to applications filed before 2023.

Income support may be applied for and paid out concurrently with and in addition to basic income support and redistributive income support.

The Compensation Allowance (AGZ) is a subsidy for agricultural operations in Hesse aimed at maintaining agricultural production in so-called disadvantaged areas. It is intended to help offset income losses and additional costs associated with farming these lands.

Applications may be submitted by farms that cultivate at least 3 ha of land in less-favored areas. The compensatory allowance may be applied for annually through the Hesse Agricultural Portal as part of the joint application (agricultural application) by May 15 of each year at the latest.

Farms that own suckler cows can apply for this assistance.

Requirements for this:

• only female animals
• At least 3 mother cows (must have calved at least once)
• The farm is not allowed to distribute or sell cow's milk
• Holding period during the application year: May 15 through August 15 of the application year

If the above conditions are met, this additional premium can be requested and paid out as part of the joint application (agricultural application).

Farms that raise sheep and/or goats may receive an additional payment under certain conditions.

The requirements for this are:

• only female animals
• Animals must be at least 10 months old as of January 1 of the application year
• At least 6 animals (a combination of animals is possible)
• Holding Period: May 15 through August 15 of the application year
• Records regarding animal identification are required (numbered ear tags)

If the above conditions are met, this additional premium can be requested and paid out as part of the joint application (agricultural application).
