Information Pursuant to the Infection Control Act; Certificate
Service description
Do you produce, handle, or distribute food? Do you come into direct or indirect contact with this food (via food contact materials, such as plates or cutlery)? Would you like to work or become employed in the kitchens of restaurants, cafeterias, and cafés, or in institutional food service facilities?
In that case, you will need a certificate from the public health department that is no more than 3 months old. This certificate confirms that you have successfully completed a training session on infection control measures.
The purpose of this training is to help you recognize your own symptoms of infectious diseases—or those of your coworkers—at an early stage. You should also be able to prevent the spread of infection and food contamination, and determine when you must stop working if you experience certain symptoms.
The certificate is issued either by the public health department or by a physician authorized by the public health department.
Special information for the Fulda districtIn the Fulda district, the training session and scheduling of appointments take place exclusively online in cooperation with the Glehn Technology Center.
Procedure
To attend the orientation session, you must schedule an appointment with your local public health department. After the session, you must submit a written statement confirming that you are not aware of any facts that would warrant a prohibition on practicing your profession. You will then receive a certificate of attendance.
If there is reason to believe that you may not be able to obtain the certificate—for example, due to a foodborne illness—you will not receive the certificate until a doctor has ruled out the suspected illness based on an examination.
