Apply for Admission to the Integration Course

You can apply to enroll in the integration course online or by mail.

Submit an application online:

• Fill out the online application for admission to the integration course.
• Use the upload feature to add the required documents.
• Log in using your BundID account and submit the application. To do so, you must verify your identity using
  • the online features of your ID card,
  • the online functionality of your electronic residence permit, or
  • Your software certificate from the tax authority (ELSTER).
• The BAMF will review your application and contact you if they have any questions or if any documents are missing.
• If you are eligible to participate in an integration course, you will receive written confirmation from the BAMF.
• Please register with a course provider as soon as possible using your authorization voucher.
• Choose a course provider near you. You can find one, for example, on the BAMF website or through BAMF-NAvI, a map-based information system.
• You will be admitted to the course subject to availability.

Submit your application by mail:

• You can either fill out the form on the BAMF website or download it and then fill it out.
• Print out the form and sign it.
• Send the form, along with copies of the required documents, to the BAMF regional office responsible for your case.
  • You can find the BAMF regional office responsible for your case by entering your ZIP code via the BAMF-NAvI on the website of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (under "Authorities").
• The BAMF will review your application and contact you if they have any questions or if any documents are missing.
• If you are eligible to participate in an integration course, you will receive written confirmation from the BAMF.
• Please register with a course provider as soon as possible using your authorization voucher.
• Choose a course provider near you. You can find one, for example, on the BAMF website (BAMF-NAvI).
• You will be admitted to the course subject to availability.

You can apply to participate in the integration course:

• if you are legally and permanently residing in Germany and
• if you have no knowledge of German or your knowledge is insufficient (below level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

Additional requirements:

• You have one of the following residence permits:
  • as a skilled worker
  • as a researcher
  • as a self-employed person
  • for the purpose of family reunification
  • as a person entitled to asylum (on humanitarian grounds), a person entitled to subsidiary protection, or a recognized refugee
  • as a long-term resident in another member state of the European Union
  • as an immigrant granted residency on the basis of special political circumstances, such as Jewish immigrants or those admitted through a humanitarian resettlement program
• Your stay in Germany is permanent. This is the case if you
  • have a residence permit valid for at least one year, or
  • have held a residence permit for more than 18 months, unless your stay is temporary.

If you do not fall into any of the groups listed above, you can apply to participate in the integration course if you

• have permanent and lawful residence (for example, as a citizen of the European Union or as a family member) and
• do not have sufficient German language skills.

In this case, admission is possible as long as there are spots available in the course.

If you are a German citizen, you may also apply to participate in an integration course if you

• do not have sufficient knowledge of the German language and
• who have special integration needs.

You may be admitted to an integration course even while your asylum proceedings are still ongoing if you

• have a residence permit.

You may also be admitted to the course,

• If you have a temporary residence permit because:
  • urgent humanitarian or personal reasons, or
  • substantial public interests require that you remain in Germany for the time being.
• if you have a residence permit because
  • their departure is impossible for legal or practical reasons, and
  • You are prevented from leaving the country through no fault of your own.

Approval is not possible:

• when there is a clearly minimal need for integration,
• if you already have a sufficient command of the German language,
• if you are subject to compulsory education,
• if you, as a young adult, are starting a school-based training program or
• Continue her education in Germany.

• Section 11(1) of the Act on the General Freedom of Movement of Union Citizens (Freedom of Movement Act/EU—FreizügG/EU)

• Lawsuit in Administrative Court
