Guidance for Food Industry Employees
Individuals who regularly handle food as part of their professional duties—whether by producing, processing, or distributing it—must obtain a certificate from the public health department confirming that they have received instruction in accordance with Section 43 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG) before commencing these activities for the first time.
This applies, for example, to employees who work in the kitchens of eateries, restaurants, cafeterias, cafés, food stands, daycare centers, nursing homes, and other facilities that provide communal meals—where they come into contact with food either directly (e.g., with their hands) or indirectly (e.g., via dishes, cutlery, or other utensils).
This also applies to temporary workers, interns, apprentices, family members who help out, and employees in the cleaning or dishwashing departments.
You must schedule an appointment for the orientation. The orientation is available in many different languages.

How long is the certificate valid?

What are the rules for minors?
Minors must also register online. For minors, a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian is required. The form will be sent to you via email along with your registration confirmation. You can also download the form in advance:
The completed and signed form must be emailed to ifsg@tzg-online.de before the orientation session.
Do you need a replacement certificate?
If you or your employer have lost the certificate, it is possible to issue a replacement certificate upon presentation of proof of employment (start of employment within three months of the initial orientation) and a valid form of identification. To do so, please contact belehrung@landkreis-fulda.de directly, providing your personal information. The current fee for this is 12.00 euros.
