Social Services for Asylum Seekers
Social services help refugees integrate into daily life and society. Partners in this effort include the nonprofit organizations AWO, Caritas, DRK Hünfeld, Grümel, and Malteser Hilfsdienst.
Staff members provide counseling on social and educational issues and serve as a point of contact for residents during regular office hours at the shared housing facilities. They help residents find their bearings and settle into their new environment.
Social services also provide support to residents of shared housing facilities, particularly in the following areas:
- Pregnancy
- domestic violence
- mental illnesses
- Addiction Disorders
If necessary, you can seek assistance from various counseling centers.
Many volunteers, who are supported by Treffpunkt Aktiv (the Fulda District Youth Welfare Office), also provide assistance to refugees.
Consulting Firms
Even after moving out of shared housing, staff members at the counseling offices are available to assist you. The central contact points for people with refugee backgrounds provide advice on any questions you may have and offer support in difficult situations.
Even if you live in a different municipality, you can contact a central service center near you. Counseling is available regardless of where you live. If needed, mobile counseling services are also available, such as at your home.
The counseling offices provide support in the following areas, among others:
- Everyday Issues
- Guidance
- Applications and Correspondence
- Building Social Connections
- various crisis situations
- Search for apprenticeships, internships, or jobs
