Fire Safety

The Fulda district is home exclusively to volunteer fire departments, some of which are supported by full-time personnel. The volunteer work carried out here is immensely valuable and plays a central role in maintaining safety and quality of life in our cities and communities.

The duties of fire departments are to rescue, extinguish, recover, and protect.

Preventive fire protection encompasses all measures designed to prevent fires from starting, limit the spread of fire and smoke, and protect people, animals, and property in the event of a fire.

Issues related to preventive fire protection from the perspective of fire and disaster protection law (Hesse Fire and Disaster Protection Act) are addressed by the Fire Protection Office, specifically the Hazard Prevention Division.

In particular, the following objectives are pursued:

• Ability to rescue people and animals
• Ability to conduct effective firefighting operations
• The possibility of a low-risk firefighting operation.

Issues related to preventive fire safety from the perspective of building law (Hesse Building Code) are reviewed by the Construction and Housing Department.

• Implementation of decentralized

Organizational Fire Safety

Review and approval of:

• Fire Department Maps
• Fire Safety Regulations
• Evacuation and Emergency Exit Plans

Hazard Prevention Inspection

• Inspections of Special Structures in Accordance with the Hazard Prevention Inspection Regulation (GVSV)

Fire safety education and awareness are intended to protect and support people

• every age group
• of any background and
• at every level of education

The goal is for people, within the limits of their physical, linguistic, and mental abilities, to take measures to prevent wildfires and other emergency situations, to learn the proper response in the event of an emergency, and to know how to fight a wildfire or provide assistance.

Fire hazards and everyday dangers can affect any of us at any time. Fire safety education and awareness are intended to prepare the public for hazardous situations and thereby equip them with the ability to respond to any other emergencies that require making an emergency call.
