1,000 Schools for Our World
"1,000 Schools for Our World" is a joint initiative of Germany's leading municipal associations. Together, the German Association of Cities, the German Association of Counties, and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities aim to promote local development cooperation in Germany. That is why they jointly launched the accessible initiative "1,000 Schools for Our World."
The goal of the initiative is to enable people to build a future in their home countries through education and to create opportunities locally. The aim is to build as many schools as possible in countries of the Global South.
Donations
With financial support from local residents and businesses in the region, the participating counties and cities aim to build schools in developing countries. To this end, the municipalities are collecting donations. The Fulda County is also participating in the initiative and is accepting donations for the construction of new schools through the following bank account:

Fly & Help Foundation
The Fly & Help Foundation is responsible for constructing the schools and serves as a reliable and trustworthy partner to local communities. Since the foundation was established, it has completed approximately 250 school construction projects worldwide. The foundation has been awarded the donation seal of approval by the “German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI).” Together with reputable partner organizations, such as Welthungerhilfe, and in coordination with local stakeholders, Fly & Help plans and oversees the construction of schools.
Completed Project
Together with three other local partners, the Fulda district built a school in Komolo, a small village in Tanzania.
The school was built under the umbrella of the “1,000 Schools for Our World” initiative through the Fly&Help Foundation. It is a branch of an existing school located a few kilometers away. In addition to classrooms and restroom facilities, a teacher’s residence and a rainwater collection system have been built. Thanks to the new location, children in the region now have shorter distances to walk. The quality of education is also improving, as the number of children per classroom has decreased. Previously, more than 100 children in each of the seven classes had to share a single classroom.
The construction of the new school brings with it the hope that even more children will be able to attend school in the future. And the more schools that are built in the future, the more children their families will send to school—partly because the schools are built safely and have adequate sanitation facilities.
