The Fulda district has been demonstrating a continuous and sustained commitment to climate protection and climate adaptation for many years—particularly through the expansion of renewable energy on its own properties, the production of bio-natural gas from organic waste, and the expansion of bicycle infrastructure.
To better identify and more effectively utilize its own options for action and opportunities to exert influence, the Fulda District, in collaboration with the Witzenhausen Institute, has developed an “Action Plan for Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation in the Fulda District.” The catalog of measures comprises 24 targeted measures across six areas of action.
The Fulda district has been a Climate Municipality since 2021. The Climate Municipalities are an alliance of Hessian cities, municipalities, and districts dedicated to climate protection and adaptation to the effects of climate change. The initiative’s common goal is to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to changing climatic conditions.
