Shopping Locally: Enjoying and Preserving Our Local Heritage
Whether it’s meat, vegetables, cheese, flour, oil, or bread—there are plenty of opportunities to shop for regional and seasonal products in the Fulda district. Shopping locally not only supports small and medium-sized businesses but also strengthens small-scale farming, the local food supply, and a sense of community. Furthermore, the money stays in the region and contributes to the sustainable development of both urban and rural areas.
Brochure with Addresses and Markets
The brochure “Shop Locally—Preferably Here!” features 50 farms, direct sellers, and shopping options in the Fulda district and also includes the schedules for weekly farmers’ markets. An overview of various quality seals helps consumers make informed choices when shopping locally. If you have any ideas or know of vendors who aren’t listed yet, please feel free to contact the Agricultural Services Department.

Regional Brand and Quality Seal
For over 15 years, the Dachmarke Rhön e.V. association has been connecting dedicated Rhön-based businesses across the entire food value chain. For regionally produced foods that originate from these value chains and are in line with the goals of the UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve, the Dachmarke Rhön association awards the Rhön quality seal “Quality of the Biosphere Reserve! The Rhön.” The Rhön Quality Seal distinguishes products of genuine Rhön quality. Producers, food processing and marketing companies, as well as restaurants in the region that operate in an exemplary manner can obtain the Rhön Quality Seal. This is underpinned by transparent value chains based on the highest possible degree of regional production, processing, and marketing.
